President John A. Dewar, '65 John is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma. He has a Master's degree in Health Administration and Policy from the University of Oklahoma. He served two tours in the Navy, one as an enlisted man and the other an officer. He retired from the Navy in 1994. He began his Navy career in 1966 shortly after high school graduation. During his enlistment, he served as a Hospital Corpsman at Naval Hospitals and with the Marine Corps in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy, he finished college and after completing graduate work was the Administrator of Northwest Laboratories, Inc. in Oklahoma City. He returned to the Navy in 1980 and received his commission in the Medical Service Corps. He was assigned to duty in the Navy Medical Department, and with the Marine Corps including Medical Company Commander, 1st Medical Battalion, a tour with the Marine Corps Reserve in Atlanta and graduated from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Quantico, VA. He completed his career as the Medical Administrative Officer at the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton, CA. Since his retirement, he has been employed by the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, the state agency that administers the Medicaid Program for the State of Oklahoma.
